KAMPFAR Explains FIREBLADE FORCE FESTIVAL Cancellation
November 1, 2008Norwegian old-school black metallers KAMPFAR have issued the following update:
"In light of KAMPFAR's cancelation of the show at the Fireblade Force Festival in Liechtenstein, Germany on October 11, we feel the need to publish this explanation. This show was supposed to be the last show of our Tordenstorm tour. Unfortunately, our tour ended at the side of the road in the alps, only a few hours before we were supposed to hit the stage. Our tour bus was stopped by the Austrian police due to a mechanical problem. The bus was taken to a garage for inspection, and it was not possible to repair the problem at the time. By the time we realized that we could not continue, it was too late to find an alternative solution to take us the remaining distance. Hence, we had to make the difficult decision to call off our show at Fireblade Force. On behalf of Elite, our crew, the festival, and ourselves, we are very sorry that this was the outcome. We have come to an agreement with the organisers of the festival and will be working together in the future."
KAMPFAR released its new album, "Heimgang" (said to be "the connection between the underworld and our own"),on September 26 via Napalm Records.

A press release reads: "Refusing to follow in the footsteps of others before or after them, the band delivered an album that sounds, looks, and feels like the very essence of KAMPFAR music inspired by Nordic natural beauty, folklore and myths. It is dark, cold, menancing, and yet alluring in a unique way. These Norwegians belong to the forerunners of the genre, though they cannot be compared to any one specific band. KAMPFAR does not place the most importance on speed, as do others, but rather on expression and content. KAMPFAR is a self-contained mix of raw black metal and pagan metal embossed with traditional folkloric influences. KAMPFAR's music is and remains Norse pagan folklore metal, and proves that compromises are unnecessary in creating greatness."
